No Beginning Chain Crazy Block Afghan Photo Tutorial

This is the photo tutorial for the No Beginning Chain Crazy Block Afghan. The photos were made with a smooth yarn to show the stitch detail. This is a four block wide swatch.
This is the first foundation block with the six chain loop and three chain of the next block.
This is a row of beginning blocks showing how they should lay.
This shows how the first row of blocks should be rotated, but not turned, to start the second row of blocks. The first chain three and single crochet of the second row has been completed.
Now the three double crochet of the first block of the second row has been completed and the single crochet of the second block.
Completed row two.
What a fantastic idea! I’m startig one in about 5 minutes. Have left over yarn and think this would look great “scrappy”. Thanks so much for sharing.

Thank you for the you tube tutorial video. It was definitely helpful. This is going to be the stitch I use for the very first blanket I make for my hubby. I want to ask, is it ok if I do either a single crochet or half double crochet all the way around just to add stability. ( I mean it is going to a man lol). Thank you for sharing this, I enjoy learning new crochet ideas and stitches. I look forward to you posting many more projects.
You could definitely single or half double around.

I haven’t tried it yet, but am intrigued with this new stitch. I really don’t like crocheting in the first row of chain. This might be a solution. I will try it on a scarf. Looks like it will produce a pretty stitch using in one color of yarn.

have you tired to make an oval rug using the ‘no beginning chain’ method using a plain stitch pattern for more stability? what do you think….doable?
since last august i have crochet 17 afghans it so easy and fun .hadto stop only because i hurt my arm .not if because imade to many too fast.kept me busy after my knee replacement,thanks.
I am making a C2C Afghan right now with a stitch that is very close to this one. It is very quick and easy and it does and will work with scrappy left over yarn. I love it!!!

Thanks again. I found this pattern several years ago. Learned it in the 1970’s from my friend’s mother but with a chain. I could never get it to lay correctly, then I found your video made an afghan and promptly forgot how to start it again. So here I am learning all over again. Thanks!!
